We use a phonics based approach to teach children how to decode words.
Our lead teachers are certified Early Elementary Teachers. All of them have received Masters Degrees in Education and are trained in Preventing Academic Failure (an Orton Gillingham approach).
Our expertise is teaching children to read based on a daily phonemic approach. Learning and knowing letter sounds eventually lead to blending and being able to sound out words and reading fluency. We can also work with the students on Kindergarten readiness, filling in what they are missing because of hybrid or remote learning.
We work with your child or small group of children 3-4 times a week for 30-45 minutes either virtually or in person (all safety protocols in place). The frequency will allow children to more easily build on the skills taught each day.
Reading aloud makes readers.
Reading aloud makes writers.
Reading aloud changes lives.
-Kate DiCamillo
We are big believers in reading aloud. At the end of each lesson we will set aside time to read aloud to the students.
They both are doing extremely well! So THANK YOU, for all you’re doing to help them succeed! Especially Connor, he has grown so much since the beginning of the year.

The Happy Readers is a website I started with my children. We have been reading together for over 2700 days. We also have an Instagram Page (@thehappyreaders). There are links on this website to my daughter doing Read Alouds, a list of books we have read, and book reviews. We will be adding more as school goes back into session. Happy Reading!
